FYI, as of alpha 37, this bug still exists.
May I also suggest a minor improvement? Currently, when holding down Shift key and then press Home key, the line starting from the cursor position back to the first column will be selected. Would it be possible that if we click Home key again (while holding down Shift), the selection is made till the first non-blank character, and if we click Home again, it is back to the first column again? This behavior would be consistent with other popular editors. Thanks.
petxMemberAh, yes, that did the trick. I right-click on the tab and click elsewhere to cancel it. And then I was able to save the file.
petxMemberNope, I never right-click on tabs.
I do use snippets plugin and the background checkbox is checked. I will let you know next time I encounter this problem.BTW, the editor is not crashing. It just can’t save the file even I press Ctrl+S. If I drag the tab to a different position, the saving can succeed.
petxMemberI never used 8.0. It does occur on all 9.00 alpha releases. I am using 64bit version.
petxMemberThank you for your wonderful work. EmEditor is close to perfect!
I found I often encounter an annoying problem, though. Sometimes, I modified a file and press Ctrl+S, but the file is not saved at all (the star character next to the file name remains). If I drag and drop the file tab to a different position and then press Ctrl+S, the file can be saved successfully. When this problem happens, it will also be there until I restart EmEditor. The bad thing is that this issue is not always reproducible, but I do encounter it now and then. Any idea?
petxMemberI like auto-completing brackets/quotation marks.
What I don’t like is when I select a text block and input a quotation mark, the quotation marks would automatically surround the selected text instead of replacing them.
It becomes a problem when using together with snippets where we use ‘tab’ key to switch between input focuses. In each focus, the text would be pre-selected. And if we enter a quotation mark, a pair of them would automatically surround the pre-selected text instead of replacing them.
petxMemberThis release is getting better and better. Thank you for your wonderful work.
One minor problem I encountered (not sure if it is feature or not) is that: when I select something, if I click a character such as quotation mark, parenthesis, the whole selected string will be enclosed by the newly insert character pair. I would expect the selected string is REPLACED by the character I just entered. This is particularly annoying when we use snippet feature and switch input focuses.
petxMemberAnother bug:
Change the font size to be different from the default one, say 12. Now modify an open file in another application. After saving, the one opened in emeditor will be prompted for refresh. You will see that the font display changes to the default one (10) after refresh.
petxMemberI am so excited trying out this nice editor, especially its new snippet feature. Now I can throw away e-editor and fully turn to EmEditor. Thanks.
I found a bug with snippet: When I am in an indented position, if I trigger a snippet that spans several lines, the snippet will align to the left border after I complete the first line. Ideally, I would like the snippet keeps its indented position. As an example, in your snippet demo video at around 01:07, you will see the open and close tags are not aligned because of this bug.
