Oh! I see now.
Duh, sorry me. Thank you very much for pointing out my error, Yutaka.
:-)EDIT: Just a followup question.
I have a .jsee with quite some text replacing lines, it’s for fixing commonly made mistakes in .srt (subtitle) files.
Would it be a bad idea if i change all instances of “eeFindNext” into “eeFindAround” in that .jsee file ?

I have EmEditor on my notebook too, I edit a copy of that same file there too on a daily basis, and my install there indeed does have the option “Prompt when saving unicode as ANSI” ticked, but i don’t get any prompt there. :-?
PS. On my notebook, i don’t install beta versions, so there it’s the latest final 11.0.5. Only other difference is that on notebook i use the 64bit version, while on the PC it’s the 32bit version.

1) I understand now, sorry because i’m not that knowledged about that material.
2) The problem happened to be with a .cfg file (detected as default Text configuration) which I edit on a (close to) daily basis. I never had that multi-options prompt “Save as Unicode (UTF-……)” until i upgraded to the 11.1.11 beta.
I got rid of the prompt by unticking Prompt when saving unicode as ANSI in the “Save…” options menu you referred to.
I wonder why that option got changed all of a sudden.

After opening & editing a Western European (ISO) document, pressing the save button, or closing the document causing the Save? window to appear gives a Choose document format (Unicode?) prompt offering to change the document format.
This has never happened before, and the original document format was automatically respected when saving, not resulting in a prompt. :-(

September 4, 2012 at 4:03 am in reply to: Head-start version: EmEditor Professional v11.1.11 beta #10509SalabimParticipantHi Yutaka,
Regarding to the tag highlighting, is there a chance you’ll “upgrade” this function to also take care of nested tags ?
Right now, it only highlights extremely few tags (only a couple of opening- to ending tags on the same line).Is it ever going to take care of nested tags ?
Currently, it highlights about 1
…tag for every 100 in the document, which is quite pity.
For example, the div below does get detected & highlighted :
<div id="logo_text">The Definitive Text Editor for Windows</div>
This one doesn’t get detected & highlighted :
<div id="language"><img src="tc_40_files/allflags2.png" alt="International Sites" usemap="#flags" height="21" width="324"> <a href="http://www.emurasoft.com/"><img src="tc_40_files/emurasoft-icon.png" alt="Emurasoft" title="Emurasoft Home Page" border="0" height="26" width="20"></a></div>
SalabimParticipantThanks for the reply Stefan.
I’m really staying quite a noob at using EmEditor.
Perhaps i’ve missed it somewhere, but is there actually some kind of “Syntax Highlighting and Syntax Folding” for HTML files like in Notepad++ ?For example, i’ve nowhere found an option in EmEditor (nor do i know it’s actually possible in EmEditor) to highlight closing tags, including nested ones like the example below. So when the cursor in over some
element, EmEditor will automatically search & highlight the corresponding closing tag.
Example:
<div id="header">
<div id="sitelogo">
<a href="http://fileforum.betanews.com">Fileforum</a>
</div>
<div id="userbox">
<div id="logged_in">
<img class="ypzrfxekdknhxhslwbbn" src="http://images.six.betanews.com/betanews2/bn_defaulticon.png">
<li><a href="http://fileforum.betanews.com/auth/profile">Edit Profile</a></li>
<li><a href="http://fileforum.betanews.com/downloadcart">(0) Download Cart</a></li>
<li><a href="http://fileforum.betanews.com/auth/logout">Log Out</a></li>
</div>
</div>…. which works out of the box (and wonderfully well) in Notepad++ , a free editor btw.
I have always been glad to have bought this editor, but the lack of usable improvements is starting to make me regret my purchase. :-(
SalabimParticipantThanks for the reply, and sorry for sounding unpolite, as stefan said, it was a *weird* way of translating, definatelly not intended as a harsh question.
Great to know the current beta is just as fine as a stable. :-)
SalabimParticipantCan we *ever* expect another stable release please ?
Or will this beta cycle last for another year ?SalabimParticipantSorry, but i updated only right now,
and there is no option to skip changing these settings in the Custom install page….SalabimParticipantah, ok.
Thanks a lot !SalabimParticipantThanks a lot for finding it Yutaka ! :-)
SalabimParticipantAt least someone is helpful.
Thank you so much for acknowledging the problem, Ivan ! :-)
After investigating, it’s more than just the desktop, it happens with *every* file, which is doubleclicked but was already in the workspace.Yutaka, you’re willing to look into this bug now ?
SalabimParticipantSelecting “None” just removed all my always-open-documents. :(
Oh well, guess I’ll have to live with it.
Really, noone is willing to recreate the problem ?
It’s just simply opening up a document (Automatic Workspace = Save&Restore), closing EmEditor, and again double clicking the same document in explorer to see the bug in effect, but if noone is willing to try……SalabimParticipantThanks for the response, Yutaka.
I don’t know what is wrong for me, I added a screenshot with the settings I have.I don’t know which setting is incorrect for EmEditor not remembering settings for specific files.
Please if you can, also tell me, what setting i need to change to have EmEditor ALWAYS open maximized, no matter what document or tab.
SalabimParticipantThanks, I tried installing the 32bit version, but now it seems Aspellchecker13 does not detect that Aspell is installed on 64bit system.
SalabimParticipantbump
SalabimParticipantHi,
EmEditor’s own spellchecker is way too unpolished to be usable, and therefor I’m trying to install the Aspellchecker32 plugin to use with Aspell, unfortunatelly, I cannot get the plugin detected by EmEditor x64 ?
Anyone have this plugin working with the 64bit version of EmEditor please ?
SalabimParticipantExactly Athan,
That’s what I just wanted to post. Due to other software containing more bugs/irregularities in the 64bit version compared to the 32bit one, I decided to install the 32bit version. I now have the 64bit one installed and all it working just fine.
Thanks a lot ! :-)
[SOLVED]
SalabimParticipantDoh!
I had that option unchecked.
Thank you very very much Crash ! :-)Topic = SOLVED
SalabimParticipantThanks for the continuous help Crash,
The problem is, I don’t want to save, I only want to know the proper specs when I open a file. This is especially important for like .srt (subtitle files for media files)
They need to be in a specific format or they are not recognized (correctly).
Western-European = ISO 8859-1, e.g. English ANSI
So, how do I recognize a Unicode format file then ?
It would be much easier if the status bar gives a more detailed info like Ansi or Unicode, same for the line ending format.I have no single clue of the line-ending method used if the status bar says no more than “Western-European”
SalabimParticipantI only see “Western European (Windows) there.
I don’t see or know which ending format was used (CR+LF or Unicode or ANSI or UTF-8)If I open it in notepad2, I see everything on the status-line, and also using the File/… options.
I nowhere find which Line Ending format was used in EmEditor ?
(or if it’s Unicode or ANSI) :-?SalabimParticipantHi Yutaka,
Sorry for the late reply, I’m a little ill these days, I use the latest version 9.08
I have “Save and Restore” in that drop-down list.SalabimParticipantThanks you so much, you’re a hero Toad ! :-)
[SOLVED] :-D
SalabimParticipantThanks a lot for the help Toad,
I tried that, but I had to do all configuration changes (including snippets, macro’s, and personal settings) from scratch.
Now, I really would like to know if it is possible to backup the COMPLETE configuration in some way to extract the necessary registry information into a file, so that I can easily put my configuration back completely in cause of when I need to do a system restore for whatever reason. (I’m regularly screwing my system badly when I’m fiddling with media conversion tools which I’m beta testing, StaxRip, MeGUI, and others…)
So, If anyone knows the registry entries which all have to be exported so I’m sure I backuped ALL settings into 1 or more .reg files, please let me know.
Thanks a lot. :)
