For example, when the font is Consolas, these 3 characters are shown as half-width:
█ \u2588
■ \u25a0
▲ \u25b2

** But if you make a vertical selection for them, the frame is for full-width.
Hope it can be optimized in such cases.

You might want to clear the “Treat Ambiguous Width Characters as Fullwidth” option in the Edit page of the Customize dialog box.
