September 12, 2014 at 11:56 am #18899DeipotentParticipantHi Yutaka,
Still hoping for following text extraction features to be implemented in EmEditor.
http://www.emeditor.com/forums/topic/emeditor-professional-v13-beta-4-12-9-3-released/#post-10998
I see you’ve added an Extract All button to the Find dialog, which is a start, but this extracts the whole line. While this could be useful, I also want to be able to extract only the matched text. On the Replace dialog I want to be able to extract either the matches for the Find text, OR the text that matches the Replace text (useful when you use Regex to transform the matches into something else).
I also want to see the option to output the matches to the Output Bar incrementally (ie. as-you-type) – similar to the option on the Find/Replace In Files dialogs. This is particularly useful when trying to get the correct Regex, as you can immediately see the matches as-you-type the Regex.

v14.6.0 beta 6
Button “Extract All” removes all matches found, prints the strings in which matches were found, but these coincidences are also deleted!September 12, 2014 at 8:54 pm #18902Yutaka EmuraKeymasterHi gora,
Which options are checked in the Find dialog box? Maybe you can export the Registry key (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\EmSoft\EmEditor v3), and send me the zipped file to [email protected]. Please identify yourself gora from the forum in your email so I won’t misplace your email.
Thank you!
September 17, 2014 at 5:48 am #18904ITSecMediaParticipantThe EXTRACT ALL in the Find Dialog is GREAT – Don’t remove it!!
Everyday I analyse megabytes of Apache Log files searching for hackers attacking my systems,
without the Extract all function in the search window,
I have to Bookmark all
open menu -> bookmarks -> extracts all bookmarks to new file …..
Now I only click Extract – Thank You!!!!What EmEditor really needs is a Dynamic Line Filter
Let’s say I open a log file with a few millions of lines … but I don’t want to manipulate the file, don’t want to extract or delete – only visualize parts of it ( whole lines ) .
Dynamic Line Filter enabled ( same functions like the search , case sensitive, regex … )
Show ONLY ( highlight ) all lines containing search
AND OR Hide all lines containing specific search-phrase
Also I want to apply more than one filter ( AND – OR ) hide all lines which contain ( phrase xyz ) AND hide all containing ( phrase abc )The new CSV allowed me to add so many new separators, DOT, SPACE, SHARP, …. all stuff you need for IP log analysis
The search, the bookmarks, the markers, all great functions I can’t live without anymore
… just dynamic line filters missing. With the new CSV abilities and it’s potential to work with all kind of encodings and large file handling
EmEditor became the standard of Log & Datafile Analysis Software worldwide.Yutaka you made it !!! This piece of software is a MUST HAVE
September 18, 2014 at 9:13 am #18905ITSecMediaParticipantgora is right, the latest version of EmEditor does delete the search string in the source and destination file when we use the Extract all function in the find dialog.
now this is a nasy little bug ^^
We need a new beta build soon!
