Hi there!
Is there any way to modify the naming/numbering pattern EmEditor uses to rename a backup (or auto save) file if the given file already exists in the specified backup directory (resp. the original directory, if no other is specified)?
For instance I would prefer something Unix-like plus a 3-digit numbering like this:
~original-name.001.ext (being original-name.ext the original file name).Thanks!

I hadn’t noticed that custom backup naming was not possible when I did the evaluation, and now I’m finding it almost impossible to use EmEditor in my workflow where I often have other scripts that process files using exclusions to ignore specific backup naming patterns.
My preference would be two-fold:
a) have the choice of whether to use multiple numbered backups or just a single backup
b) to have the choice of naming conventions such as:
file.bak
file.bak.ext
file.ext.bak
file.ext in folder xxyyOctober 5, 2009 at 10:56 pm #7680cecilyenMemberI also wish to see this feature to be implemented in EmEditor.
